Ludwigshafen

The new police headquarters building on the southern edge of Ludwigshafen’s city center comprises a main building with twelve upper floors and another building with seven upper floors. The structure of the police headquarters reaches a height of around 60 meters. The gross floor area (GFA) of the project totals around 26,000 square meters.

Both buildings extend over three basement levels, which are constructed using a white tank made of waterproof concrete. A single-storey technical and ancillary building and an underground car park are also part of the new building.

The construction of the main building is based on reinforced concrete ceilings supported by reinforced concrete walls. Particularly noteworthy is the construction of the perforated façade with a very high exposed concrete design quality and the curtain wall façade made of exposed concrete. All reinforced concrete parts of the building, including the façades, have a very high surface quality requirement (SB3).

The entire structure of the building is made of concrete, with the basement and underground garage being constructed entirely in a watertight (WU) construction.
